25 June 2004 / Friday - Let me do this with a series of photos --

23 June 2004 - Albert called to say he would come over at 13h to move the safe from West Trenton -- there were a couple other things also -- this wrought iron patio set, 4 chairs and a round glass-topped table -- the rectangular Czech sculpture propped up behind the chair -- an old large ceramic medallion sculpture of St. Francis, half hidden in the grass near the top left; this was my memorial to Evelio, and it has/had some of his favorite lilies planted around it

a better view of parts of the patio set -- that heavy iron outdoor grill is also mine and I used it a couple times a week in those days -- notice how well Bernar takes care of it! Not a problem because once I get it here, I simply scrape the exterior rust and use a special black paint made for such grills -- I was working too hard to move things away from the safe in the garage to take a pic of the large safe and how it was positioned there

later that same day, this is the dumpster that Luis and Jose said they were getting to dispose of the stuff across the street! A smallish open truck with New York license plates -- not exactly like any dumpster I ever saw, and there are many in front of some houses in Trenton -- cutting corners, I assume

25 June 2004 - another view of that theoretical dumpster -- things just piled up in front of three houses and on the side of the corner store for the trash peeps to pick up! I have never seen anything like this done in this area! Curiously several windows were open all night, and God knows what could have flown in, not to mention the brief shower we had! A beautiful large desk was among the discards, but it was grabbed just before I took the photo -- I was able to retrieve an old brass chandelier though

this is the latest view of the empty building lot across the street which goes from one street to the next-- three days ago some workers came to cut the high weeds down and to get rid of the trash that the nice neighbors throw there -- once all the work is done, the area should really begin to look totally different -- Trenton never was a city that does things quickly, for whatever reason -- I have waited 20+ years for them to start what they recently began to do! How many more will it take to finish? I asked one of the workers when they will get to this side of the street -- he said in a couple weeks -- then comes the repaving of the entire street! Weeks can easily mean months!

I just got a message on my answering machine from some city inspector about the place across the street -- they started picking up the stuff left in the street, so I went over to ask them if they usually take soooooooo much -- the inspector was there and said they do not pick up that quantity of trash -- he will issue a court summons, and asked me if I was the owner -- I told him I sold it over three months ago to a couple Hispanic guys near New York who told me they were getting a dumpster -- he said that is what they should have done. I was very surprised to see a lot more things to be thrown out in the alley, including a beautiful old enameled cast iron bathtub, but I cannot be sure if it was the one from downstairs or on the second floor -- I put in all new solid brass fittings; did they throw them out too? -- there was nothing wrong with it! They did not take 2 large metal shelves, some small metal cabinets and a large old wood cabinet, which they piled in front of the property -- this is getting interesting! The new owners seem to be saving money by hiring some probably illegal aliens to get things out for a low wage, and I assume that is how they always do things with their other properties. We are supposed to get potentially heavy rains this afternoon, and that could flood the place since several windows are still wide open! Smart thinking, guys!

10 July 2004 / Saturday - I transferred 4 of the pics that were above, related to the garages, to the GARAGE page so that this one does not become excessively large. I also started a street renovation -- -- page to show the work as it progresses in the street in front of the property.

Yesterday Albert, the safe guy, went to West Trenton to get a couple heavy things and move them here -- pic on the GARAGE page -- they already have the bricks in that thin strip of sidewalk in front of the place -- now they have to plant the couple trees on this street one of these days -- it does look better, sort of, if one does not look too closely at the main parts of the sidewalks, which are really shitty! So you will have to check those two web pages to see the latest developments in those specific areas.

This past week was flake time again! Those peeps from Costa Rica called me several times and were back twice to say they are still interested in this place -- they said they finally had enough money to go through with the deal -- I told them that they have been bugging me for over 6 months already, and in the interval my price has gone up -- they cried a little and I relented and said they could have it at the old price, but only for the next 7 days -- after that the price is higher! PUT UP OR SHUT UP! And when they finally get whatever it is built across the street, and things really look nicer, the price will be more, probably in 2005. This is a commercial corner property, great high volume traffic street exposure, large front and side display windows, finished basement with tons of shelves for storage and a toilet, with three garages, and a large apartment upstairs -- extremely rare in this area.

For some reason I have been very distracted lately -- part of the reason may be that Fabiola had 5 adorable kittens on 27 June -- -- at least two of them seem as if they will be sort of hairless, the others will probably have some fuzz, but it is too early to really know -- -- I was amazed that she had so many since the last two times she only had a single kitten and they did not survive very long -- I suspish that it was the younger male, Baby, who was the father this time. I am keeping Fabiola in the bathroom just so that she is not always bothered by the other Sphynx cats -- she likes the added attention, needless to say. But I was shocked the day after the above kitten pic was taken -- I went into the bathroom and on the rug was a kitten head, nice and neat! No emotion on its little face, so I assume/hope it died somehow and she decided not to waste the tender morsel?? I have never had this happen in all the years I have been raising cats. They tell me not to keep the male with the mother when she has kittens because he may eat them -- UNTRUE -- I usually always keep them together, and never had the father do more than lick/groom the little ones and sleep with them, like one happy family. Maybe Fabiola has been listening to the radio too much and heard all those stories about beheadings in the Middle East? She does seem to have a voracious appetite, and I constantly have to bring her another can of food and some milk supplement, which she gobbles up quickly. Hopefully she will not get the kitty munchies again, the bitch!

11 July 2004 / Sunday - As usual, I look longingly out the window at the place I sold across the street to see when the new owner's mom will move in -- thus far I have never seen lights on at night -- last week some guy and gal were cutting down the bamboo forest with machetes -- I just now looked out my study window again and saw a sign in the window -- OK, so I guess they hired some contractor to do some updating or whatever -- SURPRISE! -- -- it is a realty sign -- they are selling the place! OMG! So I immediately called Thom, in Philadelphia, and asked him to call Weichert and get some information about the property -- he called me back and said he called them, it rang at least ten times and not even a voicemail message! In my experience realtors do the least work possible, and when I call them they never bother calling back.

At the same time the dude in back had his gate open and I asked to take a pic of my old yard from the back, where the bamboo was -- -- they not only cut the bamboo down, but also the nice holly tree and red cedar from my Mom's old place in Wildwood Crest, leaving two large weedy trees like the ones I removed from my small patio here! The neighbor told me he would have been interested in the place, and that the new owners made all kinds of noise inside at all hours of the early morning, and threw out all kinds of antique furniture, which they chopped up -- you can see the patio and the adjoining wall I helped build on the far right -- there were loads of strawberries planted in lines where the 2 vertical rows of round-topped bedding things are seen. Needless to say, I am amazed, yet only slightly surprised at this new turn of events. The dude in back told me that there are speculators who are grabbing up property in the area -- further down that side street one bought a place for 40k, and is already renting the five apartments he made out of the tiny row house at $1,200/month/each! And I still did not get back almost $900 that was in escrow for back taxes that I paid before I sold the place! This sucks! Why am I such a trusting soul? Some day I may learn! I guess I should call the dumb lawyer tomorrow and at least try to have it returned.

12 July 2004 / Monday - I just called the realtor -- the asking price is $169,000 -- I imagine that Jose and Luis are soooooo happy to have given it to Luis's mama, who then showed how much she appreciated the altruistic gift that she is selling it now to make some pocket money for those necessities such as parakeet food, new combat boots, and to help pay the bills that her meager retirement from the police special forces does not cover?? She sounds like such a sweet old lady.

14 July 2004 / Wednesday - Just finished working on a web site that I have been doing for a friend in ShangHai, China -- he sells his treasures on eBay at unheard of cheapy prices -- the shipping is a LOT more, though, but even taking that into consideration, you could never find similar things here at those prices. It is not a whole lot, as web sites go, but if he wants more he can do it himself -- I sent him the software I use.

I have a couple pages to do yet on another new web site, also in ShangHai. Mainland China is just opening up to the use of home computers and web sites, and during the next few years we should see a rapid surge in these activities and related things. Did you know that, worldwide, ordinary peeps are joining the ranks of the Bloggers at something like 68,000/day? Eventually, probably most of them will discover that they actually want their own domain to develop in their personal areas of interest -- then they can Blog and do loads of other things on their own Internet real estate, so to speak -- and have some virtual fun! So if you do not yet have a domain for your own use, maybe it is time to seriously think about it?

17 July 2004 / Saturday - Yesterday I noticed that the realtor is becoming much more agressive about the sale of the place across the street -- -- now there are three for sale signs, one plastered right smack on the front door, which I do not think I have ever seen before in this area, another one on the side entrance gate, and they even seem to have had a scrap of paper left over for a small one in the front window -- I assume they will not charge Luis's mom a higher commission for all that extraordinary additional effort?!

I suddenly decided to make the jump to mass FREE advertizing, and thought up a longish ad for the place I am now living in -- MY AD -- it is just a trial run on an online selling web site that I have been using for a couple years already for things that I sell on eBay, very simply to bring peeps to my eBay listings -- I also put the same ad on my servers, linked to a couple of my own web pages because the ad may expire and I may forget to renew it -- I do not expect to get many, if any, requests for more information, but one never knows; it will be listed for 14 days, after which I may decide to renew it again -- yesterday I did get two phone calls from peeps who drove by and saw my FOR SALE BY OWNER sign in the front window. It may be nearing time for me to finally decide to pull up roots and file all those dusty old haunting memories, good and bad, once and for all -- time for a fresh start and one last major move of these weary yet willing and able bones before they eventually get dug under -- I may even surprise myself and everyone else and suddenly opt to return to La Atlántida, my rural mountain paradise in the Canary Islands.

Since I put a single pic of the kittens on my Sphynx cat pages a couple days ago, I have had 4 emails about them! It sometimes amazes me that anybody ever reads some of my Internet stuff, as interesting as it may be, and suggests that WWW grazing really is becoming much more popular and active than it has been in the past. eCommerce has been steadily improving and profits are on the rise for just about any commodity -- even my Chinese pal is getting more bids on his items since I made him an eBay ME page a while back and his own associated web site (even considering that the summer is the slowest selling period on eBay), and I know for sure that he is also selling out of auction -- good for him! If he can improve his life style, and that of his family within a social/political framework which many outsiders consider oppressive and is seemingly slowly coming out of the dark ages of isolationalism and into an increasingly more liberalized competitive world economy (although not entirely FREE in a real sense, and certainly not equitable by any means!), without getting trampled/smothered by excessive retrograde administrative national administrative roadblocks, I am very pleased to have done my little part to assist him. Everybody needs a little help sometimes.

19 July 2004 / Monday - I Just received a very well padded surprise package from ShangHai -- -- two tins of two different forms of Green Tea, each rounded container having about 260g -- one with large rounded bud-like things and -- -- the other having short stalky looking thingys -- a roof tile of as yet undetermined age (I shall have to ask him about it), and a wonderful polychrome enameled pottery Tang Dynasty horse -- -- several things of bronze from the Late Qing Dynasty, dating from the early part of the last century -- -- a large mythological beast sculpture; almost looks like a Capricorn, sort of -- -- and four small figural locks with the typical simple Chinese keys -- -- L>R : mythological beast, snake, double ended goats and a horse! I have never seen these kinds of locks before, and they are really kewl!

OK, so I just made my usual large pot of tea, using the twiggy-looking variety, above -- the outer package directions -- -- I used 6 heaping teaspoons and slightly less water than usual-- it makes a light golden tea with a sort of musky / woodsy aroma. I usually just allow the pot to cool down, then put it in the refrigerator, filling my mug again as it empties. I did not know that you are supposed to reuse the tea leaves -- I may try it one of these days, and follow their directions. Thank you very much, chico -- I love surprises!

22 July 2004 / Thursday - I put 2 small pots of boiling water in the larger pot with the old tea leaves, and it still made an excellent tea -- last night I tried the round tea thingys -- put 6 heaping tablespoons in the pot, and they became sort of like the long sprigs, but almost filled the pot up; I think I should have used a lot less of this variety to begin with -- I suspish the aromatic smell may be jasmine -- one can slightly taste it also. The next time I shall try only 3 tablespoons -- maybe I shall actually weigh out the grams.

I had the kittens and mommy in an upright box since they were born, as usual -- -- yesterday I laid it on its side for the first time so they could get used to seeing more space and light, since the flaps are always closed, and it gave them a chance to walk around a little -- they are now slightly over 3 weeks old -- -- here I put them on the small rug near my computer work area -- they are not yet very adventuresome, and when Fabiola rolls over, they are back for another feed -- -- mama is always nearby watching over them -- -- that other related cat is Chinese, made of silver, and it has a classical form of silver bullion , a Yuan Bao, in its front paws -- it dates from the latter part of the Qing Dynasty, the late 1800s -- since it had never seen Sphynx cats before, it is scratching its head in amazement!

8 AUGUST 2004 / Sunday - Jake, a friend of Albert's, the moving guy, called and said he could get the small safe from the garage up to the apartment -- and it was done rather quickly, all by himself -- I still have to paint it in a matt black because with the great care that Bernar used in allowing it to sit on the porch of the place in West Trenton, rusted all of the nice original paint it had!

On the morning of 1 August I was happily playing in the radiation field of my eMac, as usual, when I heard a lot of Hispanic music in the street out front -- it was the annual Puerto Rican Day parade! So there were the usual street sellers of the standard kitchy stuff -- -- piled high on shopping carts they stole from the local supermarkets, while cop cars closed off the intersections -- and many floats with kewl music -- -- the neighborhood crowds lining the yet-to-be repaired streets, and even the always present floats with the gorgeous gals representing different groups that registered for the event -- -- it was fun -- Evelio used to love them, and we always hung very large American and Spanish flags from the third floor windows of the place across the street -- speaking of which --

I always get piles of spam snail mail, clumps of sales fliers, misdirected letters / checks / court summons / love letters to convicts, et al. -- then I noticed a realty flier card, addressed to non other than Evelio! -- -- their database must be as current as that of our fabled, way over hyped / funded Homeland Security gang! You may notice that I do not seem to mention the upcoming presidential elections?? Why bother -- I enjoy telling my own shaggy dog stories, which really are true!!

I have had more calls from peeps that say they are potentially interested in this place, but they are always the kind who are sitting in their car out front, which is not how I do things -- if they want to see it, they call at least a day in advance. I am really in no rush to sell it at this time, partially because I do not have another place to live lined up, and if I reopen the shop, I could probably make a few buckies -- my place in Tenerife often seems to be the best viable alternative option.

I have nothing listed on eBay, which is extremely rare for me -- this summer has been very slow, and the bidders total cheapskates, and I am tired of giving stuff away -- so I have been dozing off at the computer for hours at a time, playing with the kittens, who are doing well, even thoroughly cleaned the kitches, and --

I started a new web domain dedicated to an illustrated blog book -- -- started way back in 1977, but which has been neglected and without entries for a couple years already. The weather has been very hot, with the exception of the past two days, when it was almost like late autumn -- I could even breath when I went outside!

9 AUGUST 2004 / Monday - those of my readers who really get their jollies when pussy gets in their pants would really get off if they had my babies in this stage of their development, slightly over 6 weeks old already -- it is when they really get around, start eating and drinking for themselves, learn where the litter box is, sort of recognize and play with some toys, follow you like sheep where ever you are, and are really fond of climbing up pant legs-- the only slight technical glitch being that it is too hot to wear pants and I only have shorts on! OK, so in my infinite wisdom I have kept them with mommy in the bathroom, just so that Fabiola does not have to contend with the other adult Sphynx while she is supposed to be dedicating her attentions to her babies -- the resulting problem is noted when I shit, shave and/or shower! -- -- Have you ever had small sharp-clawed kittys actually climbing up your bare legs? As the new pics illustrate, mommy seems to like getting in my pants when I am, well, you know -- exteriorizing those internal necessities -- -- by that time all the kittens have run over and are playing and flolicking in my shorts and up and down my unprotected legs! My lower extremities look like soft scratching posts already -- of course, the solution to this slight inconvenience is rather simple -- WEAR FREEKIN LONG PANTS, ALREADY! So I just put a pair of jeans outside the bathroom for my next visit -- it sure took me long enough! I did let each of the two adult males visit them for a day, a couple times already, so they know that other larger critters like their mommy do exist -- by the end of the week I shall put them all in the much larger kitchen with the others, and have the bathroom to myself once again -- Quichi, the other female, is never exactly friendly with kittens when she first meets them, but eventually says, what the hell -- as long as Sonny keeps bringing me food, I can look like I am tollerating these little monsters of his.

A young Chinese dude rang the bell about an hour ago -- he was vaguely interested in this property, but apparently only to be used as apartments -- it seems as if all of these cheapass speculators only want a quicky turnaround to some fast rental buckies -- OK, so he could rent the apartment, and even make another one in the basement, and, he said a 3rd in the two large backrooms of the shop -- can they not make money the old fashioned way, working for it, and use the property as a shop of some kind in a rapidly developing potentially upscale area having mega-traffic and frontal exposure?? I gave him the URL of that cutesy FOR SALE page I made, where he can find all the info he desires about the place. He was, otherwise, kewl, and liked the oriental art I had in my study -- he helped me translate something I had been working on into Chinese. I do not think he will be in contact again, but just wait until they finally get around to building those shops, professional medical offices and apartments across the street, as well as finish off the sidewalk and street renovations! My price will then be higher, I may have reopened the shop, and they will have to beg me to sell!

Oh, yes, I am also slightly changing the format of my TAObook pages, but it may take me a couple days to get the first 4 pages redone -- the trial digital camera pics I took sucked, but I am now trying two scans of the pages that have entries larger than the scanner platten -- -- thus far the samples I did are not any worse than the other scans, so I may do it this way. I should really start putting some items on eBay again, despite the really slow sales and low winning bids -- I did put a few things on that FREE listing web site, YardSaleNet.net, and, as usual, each listing has a few links to my other stuff on eBay and elsewhere. So if any of my readers have anything to sell / trade / or give away, I highly recommend that site -- hey, you might even find something you cannot live without listed there!

18 AUGUST 2004 / Wednesday - Well, I started putting stuff on eBay again, and after a couple days still do not have any bids! I have been extremely tired lately for some reason -- I wonder if it is the radiation from this eMac? The EMF field is a LOT stronger than in the old laptop, the TiBook. As usual I say that I have to sleep at night instead of doing puter work into the early hours of the dawn, but can never manage to, somehow.

The kittens seem to be sort of OK -- one female is the proverbial runt of the litter -- I have had several emails about them so far -- -- they will be 8 weeks old at the end of this week and ready to be adopted at the end of the month.

I did manage to get some basic biorhythm material online -- I have several domains related to them, but shall use two of them for my personal use, and the others are for resale -- PLUS I have links to my eBay items on the pages, which may also stimulate sales when the peeps get back from vacation -- two separate web sites may get twice the attention that only one would -- every potential plug helps, and I may as well use the free hosting that comes with them! You can check them out, if you feel like -- both are basically the same thing, only the domain name changes -- Laboratorio de Investigaciones sobre Biorritmos Humanos -- + -- Bio Cycles * Life Times. Seeing all of that research activity that virtually stopped when I returned to the States, makes me want to get back into it -- all the other related domains are already registered to somebody, so I assume they are using them for something -- I did a Giggle (hey, that is my personal name for Google!) search for biorhythm and came up with loads of pages of links. The search engines have not picked mine up yet, but, curiously, they both have had many visitors in their first 2 days online!

Oh, yes, and while I was playing the venerable Web Master game, I thought I would have some more fun, and instead of just a FOR SALE sign on the one and only page of a couple others that are available to buy and develop, I spiced them up a tad -- curiously, they are the ones that get the most traffic of all of my for sale domains, but then again, they always say, SEX SELLS! So there are two more web pages you can check out -- How sexy are you? -- + -- ¿Qué es el sexo? -- one of these days, hopefully, someone will want them for their own use. They may eventually appear among my eBay listings, once the bidders come out of hibernation, which better be soon. There is just about nothing in the place to eat, and the cats are always hungry -- I have to get to Sam's Club for my usual Jeep load of food and cat litter.

Otherwise, there is nothing exciting to report -- the weather has been off and on warm-ish -- we only got a few drops of rain from Hurricane Charlie, the one that did a lot of damage in Florida -- we did get some really heavy thunderstorms the week before. I am wondering how to get the remaining tree stumps from the side yard, so that I can start working on that side of the garages, then on to the front -- I may decide to do the front first, once the weather cools down slightly.

29 AUGUST 2004 / Sunday - I would have sworn that I updated this since the 18th, but I guess not -- not a whole lot new though. I updated many more minor domain index pages and did some that were not online yet. Went to Sam's Club to stock up on food and cat things, since there was basically nothing left in the apartment. I vacuumed and cleaned the inside of the Jeep -- last week I picked up some small blocks of granite that were being disposed of at a building site in West Trenton, for possible use in the patio, once I get it the way I want it -- they were coated with mud, and there was a lot of dirt in the back of the car.

The kittys, the three that are left, are 9 weeks old today -- I tidied up and cleaned the kitchen, and put in two fresh litter boxes for them -- they climbed up the tree trunk I have near the table by the window and were enjoying the Sun for the first time in the wooden sun box I always have there for the family -- a couple minutes before this pic, they were all in there -- the poor sleepy male on the left had to wake up to see what I was doing --

I can rarely get a pic of them all together without manually clumping them up, but they never stay together for very long -- they are now in the climb-up-my-long-pants stage, which is always fun [at least for them!] -- they are eating like horses now too, and have known where the litter boxes are for weeks already. I suspish that Quichi is also pregnant -- it is only the 2nd time in all the years I have had her -- she seems to have some milk available as the kittys are often feeding at her. We shall see how things progress on this possible event. I took the kittys for their usual pre-adoption checkup at the vet's, and he loved them, as always -- they are now available for adoption.

I went to West Trenton to do some wash yesterday -- have two loads to do yet. While there I left a birthday gift for Bernar, a Chinese crystal snuff bottle in the shape of a carp -- his day was 25 August, and he is now 42 years old -- I do not expect any kind of a thank you or anything -- he is way too busy doing his own thing, as usual. He finally painted the cedar shingles on the back enclosed porch I helped construct 4+ years ago, and redid the bathroom. I suspish that he will try to sell the place as soon as all the work is done, and there is a lot of relatively minor cosmetic things to do yet. I noticed a ground plan for a property with more ground lying on a table, so I also suspish he will be/is looking for something slightly more rural and a tad larger -- the taxes would probably be significantly less also -- he was always good at the money thing.

My web site visitor counter acts weird -- counters always seem to somehow -- maybe it is just on my computer because, perhaps, the image is cached or something? I usually get a sort of lowish number -- -- while, on other rarer occasions, the number is actually where I think it should be -- -- and in the early morning and some other times all I get is a non-descript format -- -- the same thing happens using the AOL browser and that of Netscape 6.1 -- I wonder what number usually appears on other computers/browsers?

It has continued hot and muggy -- not a lot of rain -- even the nights are sort of warm and sticky. The Olympics closed without a major hitch, which was nice to see -- Athens should be proud of that accomplishment, as I am sure the whole of Greece is. Too bad I do not have a cable TV setup here at the apartment, or I would have watched the opening and closing ceremonies, at least. I did manage to sneak in some TV in West Trenton -- on my TV, which is still there.

I notice that I have over 186 pic files thus far associated with my 2004 YES -- and this is the third web page devoted to my news and commentaries of this year -- I shall soon have to start a fourth because this one is getting a little over filled, making it slightly slower to load using a dial up modem.

Oh, yes, today I went to the garages to put a bunch of recyclables in the bin, then as I closed the pull-down garage door, somehow the three middle fingers of my right hand found their way between two door segments as they came together! HOLY SHIT, it took me a split second to realize what had happened and when I got back upstairs I put some ice in a plastic baggie and in went my hand -- naturally, the fingers look a little red, and there is a little blood around the fingernail of the middle finger, and yes, they still feel as if they were crushed -- I guess that tomorrow is when I may note the effects, and if it looks bad enough, to the doctors I shall gallop. We shall see. Why my fingers happened to be there in the first place is a complete mystery, as that hand is always on the door handle as I pull the door down. Human error is the usual excuse given for such stupidity-- I am starting to wonder if it is just the onslaught of senility!

* S E P T E M B E R *

16 September 2004 / Thursday - the big news in these parts since my last update seems to be the hurricane season, which has been exceptionally devastating this year -- you may remember my brief special Hurricane Isabel report from 2003 -- I have some family and online friends living in Florida and the deep south, and most have been affected to a greater or lesser extent by this years three major storms, thus far -- -- a cousin, and Marion, in Florida have had sporadic phone service for many days, and the collateral damage appears to be enormous -- my plumber, who has a trailer somewhere down there, said the storms missed him completely -- this view of Hurricane Frances from the side, taken from outer space, I find spectacular -- -- and shows the broad extent of its affects. We here in Trenton have had only some ordinary rain showers, not even storms, due to Hurricanes Charley and Frances -- Ivan and its lingering moisture has yet to reach us.

On a more personal note, the remaining two kittys are doing fine -- -- here my entire Sphynx family is happily munching away on what I usually give them after I have dinner, with a can of cat food mixed in -- they would eat the dish if they could! I really sort of hate having to offer the kittens for adoption, but I just do not have room in the apartment as it is now, with stuff all over the place.

I was surprised when I went out in the early morning hours of 3 September, which I sometimes do after being in the house all day long playing with computer stuff -- one of the large cacti in the downstairs front window has four flower buds on it -- -- -- I checked them for the next couple nights -- then on 7 September I was amazed to see large white flowers on two of the buds! This shot was taken from outside the shop window at about 03h-- -- another pic from the inside -- -- A few hours later, after sunrise, they were already closed -- -- so I assume they are the genera that only blooms at night (Cereus comes to mind), although I have not taken the time to try to identify the species. It was the first time in the 10+ years I have had it that this plant flowered. This pic -- -- is of that group of cacti, shown from the inside of the right front shop window you can see one of the upper flower buds still unopened. Two days later the remaining two buds did the same thing, but I waited until dawn to take the pics , but by that time they had already closed -- this photo from the outside -- -- and from the inside -- --. It is a striking example of just how fleeting and temporary what one calls beauty, and of course, life in general, can usually be. We have to be ready to appreciate these fleeting kewl moments when they happen, or perhaps lose them forever! This single ability is perhaps the only thing we should strive for in Life (everything else comes along naturally, somehow -- the good and the not so good!), but it is not taught in schools; young kids have the power, but generally lose it as they get older, for many reasons -- is the power still with you?

A couple otherr views of that section of my cacti -- -- and succulent plant section -- -- some day I want to activate one of my cactus domains and include many more photos and information about the plants I have and had in the past -- I only hope that my old 35mm slides are still in good condition and that they scan well.

I do not recall if I mentioned that all those new olde-fashioned street lights are now working, and soil was put into the spaces in the small outer bricked part of the sidewalk where the trees will eventually go. That dumb ass police sub station across the street in the still empty lot is a real PITA -- they use a large portable generator for the extremely bright massive floodlights -- -- which for some reason are on during the day also, and the freekin generator is a constant hummm, which I am sure that exceeds any and all excess street noise ordinances -- it vibrates the walls and if my computer, air conditioner and air filter were off, I could easily hear it in my study (which faces that lot) and my bedroom, which is the next room back.

Just before the extended Labor Day holiday weekend I applied to Apple Computer to be one of their iTunes Music Store affiliates, and was accepted some 4 days later -- what that means is that peeps can get tunes, audio books, music videos and more from the Store through my web sites and I get a very small commission on any sales, but the application program itself is FREE -- you can see what the iTunes computer application can do on my new special page dedicated to it -- -- it is really kewl, and seems to be an international success story which others have attempted to imitate, without a lot of success, I might add -- so, after reading about it, if you want to download the FREE app, please use the handy link I have above or on many of my web pages -- for computer users, it is another virtual music player, and can be used offline to stash your CD collection, among other things -- you never have to buy anything from the Music Store to use it, and I am totally sure that you will find it most enjoyable, whether you use a PC or a Mac. Getting the links on a lot of pages, checking them to see if they work the way they should, and changing formats to make the blurb as small as possible while still including enough basic info was the main reason why this update took me so long -- sorry about that!

I just got this kewl pic from a cousin who lives in Florida -- PIC -- and a related post card -- POST CARD -- oh, yes, and guess whose hair this is -- --.
