Ted, you always were a peep of few words!

Thank you very much for your summary of Katrina.

I, at first, was apprehensive about reading it, given your twisted sort of humor.  I'm not in the mood for that right now.

But you showed once again that there is a finely honed intellect behind your irreverence.  I recognized Bill's and my posts, and couldn't help but notice that, with the exception of your friend in Baton Rouge, you didn't quote anybody from the political left spectrum.

Be that as it may, you did a wonderful job and I congratulate you.

Hey, old pal, I am neither right nor left! I just try to use common sense and logic with everything -- unfortunately, sometimes there isn't any to be seen, and we are left with the resources we all have been programmed with [or lack thereof]

Actually, there were many important questions raised on your website but one thing that caught my eye was the school buses, flooded and useless, that could have been used to transport people out of that city.

Well, thank you for your website. I will be using it as a teaching tool, and appreciate the work that you put into it.

Lena - OK

Lena, although the school busses did really strike me as significantly curious, it was the whole enchilada, the complex mix of things which apparently happened that made, and continues to make, this such an unusually newsworthy event -- and I imagine that it will be commented on for months, if not years, to come.

Thank you for your kind comments.

Your website contains a lot of great information. The background, however, makes it very difficult on the eyes.  You might want to change it to a more professional, plain background to match the very professional information it contains.

BJ

BJ, it shows up great on my eMac screen and is easy to read, but they tell me that PC screens see everything darker -- sometimes how a web page appears on a particular computer screen has to do with the screen settings in the preferences panel -- in order to eliminate this potential individual glitch I have removed the background from the page -- thanks for bringing it to my attention.

This is one of the very best write ups I have seen on this topic. Well done and thank you.

Dave

Thanks, Dave, I really did put a lot of effort into it.

Hi I loved this report. I agree with most all you stated...Although, being a fellow Texan, I feel the need to stand up for our President. The man can't win for losing in this country and I'm sick of it...whether anyone likes it our not, he IS our president and leader of our country...and it was AMERICANS who decided that in November of last year. So, to answer part of number 12...George Bush is not a moron...for all anyone knows, he could have proposed relief, money, etc. 1 or 2 days after Katrina....but, it needs to be approved by congress, right? Isn't the whole reason for FEMA to take the action needed in these situations? what are they there for if not? How was he to know FEMA wasn't going to respond properly? Yes, this is a disaster and I am truly heartbroken about it...but, what does it say to the rest of the world if we keep bashing our own leader...blame him for all that goes wrong, and not praising the many things he does to benefit America? As for what would the other party do in this situation? I believe they would find a reason to blame this on Republicans.....run and hide with their tails between their legs. Bush at least has owned up to it...though he doesn't deserve the criticism.
Tia -  Texas

Tia, I attempted to be as factual and unbiased as possible, simply reporting what I had run across in the terrible self-serving media -- I also believe that GWB is not entirely at fault and that he at least deserves the respect of his elected office -- NO politician is above reproach, and the higher the office they occupy, apparently the more criticism they get, be it valid or not -- politics, and now Katrina, has polarized this country so much that nobody seems to be able to separate real truth (if it exists) from pure bad fiction

GREAT STUFF ON YOUR EBAY TOO

Hey, girl, posting boards now with any provider are all like that -- years ago when the InterNUT first became popular, the chat rooms and message boards were less insane, more interpersonal on a one-to-one basis -- there weren't hundreds of members in the same room and one could follow the discussions easily -- there were still some few who always got TOS violations and such, but the posters were all a tad more homey and family like somehow -- just as today, there were tight cliques, and those who have nothing meaningful to reply started in on spelling errors (like who cares -- they still figured out what the peep was writing about, which is the purpose of communication!) -- I was in the same chat rooms and boards for hours each and every day, interacting with the same peeps -- now I only look at 3 boards / message groups on a daily basis, two have to do with computers, and the third is a bunch of gals in a Beanie group (been on that one for at least 7 years already, and since the olde tyme beanie craze has all but died out, they post on just about everything and anything, which is kewl) -- I happened to wander into the Spice Girls message board simply as a workaround to get back to the OLD more intuitive posting format rather than the new shitty html format that some dorks at AOL decided they wanted to force down our gullets instead -- in many cases the gals also seem to know one another, and like in any family, there appear to be a few black sheep and bullies -- I didn't see more than a couple comments on my few posts, but didn't lose any sleep over it. People really aren't horrible -- they just have perhaps very limited exposure to some things, a pre-programming of one sort of another in their general outlook on life, and, yes, some of them just seem to be bitches -- a dude on the computer board also helped deliver meals at a refugee center, and some in the group always had something negative to say about him (most probably the ones who didn't lift a finger to help with a donation or anything else) -- so cheer up and let it slide already. As a retired science teacher and being a research oriented dude all my life, what I have on my special report is simply sorta like writing a paper to present at an international symposium, but I hope it isn't written as obscurely as, for example, Einstein might have lectured about quantum physics -- I always tried to present stuff for the students and not only for the specialist.

Thanks, my eBay / Yahoo items are as varied as my eclectic interests, and the descriptions are like shaggy dog stories many times -- due to my analytical background and attempts to explain things as well as I can? Sales have been painfully slow for many months, and I usually pay eBay more than I actually take in/month -- that's why I started listing on yahoo, where it is totally FREE -- and slow! We both are doing something that is important to each of us -- I have loads of treasures collected after many years, think it is about time to share them with other like minded peeps at an extremely reasonable price, which helps pay bills that my premature retirement pension does NOT -- you as a rational, thoughtful human being, care for those in need and spend your time, energies and money to that end. GOD BLESS YOU!

God Bless !
