Life is one vast seashore, where new things, people and events are brought in with each daily tide. The child finds something he is unfamiliar with along the beach and asks the age-old question, "What is this?" I have been asking this same thing since I was a lot younger than I am today, and I still have the same curiosity about my world as I did then! MANY questions remain as yet answered -- will I still have time? I not only asked, I attempted to find the answers to my queries, through observation and research. And when I felt that I knew some of the answers, I published scientific papers on the subject in order that others might, perhaps, find the information they were searching for. I wonder if that was a personal way of trying to preserve my footprints in the ever changing sands of life? Here, then, are some of the things which have fascinated me over the years. If I spark that inner flame of childlike inquisitiveness in the reader and thereby allow you to become more familiar with the natural world, my goal will have been reached.
