We still have the book, however it is missing the hardback cover. I thought this would be a nice Christmas surprise for her. Your book is in perfect condition! I am extremely pleased and will leave positive feedback for you. You have put a smile on my face. Have a nice day... Kim Sallada >>

<< Dear Sonny:

What an honor and privilege to have "met" you.

You are a man of vast interests and pursuits.

Your taste in the arts is exquisite.

I enjoyed the "fossils", as my father was an avid "rock collector" for over 30 years. He, too, was a brilliant man, a scientist for 32 years at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, his rock collection was vast, an upon his passing this January, we donated a lot of them to various groups.

I was so taken by your world travels and vibrant wit, I forced my husband to postpone his usual Sunday night television, to share your website with him. My husband enjoyed "surfing" the many aspects of all of your collections, and when finding the sphinx cate site, it grabbed our collective attention, as we rescue (started by accident) abandoned/abused cats/kittens and now one dog. The sphinx cats are exotic and very unusual at the same time.

God bless you, hope your week brings you much joy and happiness, and you have brought us such pleasure in meeting with you online and browsing your website.

Good night.

Mary Ellen & Steve

P.S.: My husband wanted to tell you that during his Army days he was stationed in Baumholder, Germany (guess that is where he got his love for Porsche's from), 30 km. from Idar Oberstein. He truly enjoyed his stay there, meeting the people, learning the language and visiting all the tourist and non-tourist spots. He took many good pictures, and that is where he developed his love of the camera. His favorite town in Germany is Trier (?), close to the French border where the Roman ruins are (but you know that).

I do apologize for the long post, but we were both truly excited by your very interesting life and travels. >>

I have followed your website for the last couple of years. I love your wit, etc. NOW, please forgive me if I am butting in where I am not welcomed, but I am concerned with your "state of being". Are you sending messages concerning your life (and if you will make it)......if so, please, please stay positive. You have so much going for you.........I love your messages about your cats, Koi, beanies, fossils, etc., etc, etc. You have beaten cancer and are giving hope to many. Keep your sense of humor (as I know you will!) and keep us all on the edge.........but please ..... know that you are an added enjoyment to my surfing!!!! PS.........Keep the faith! Milos >>

This is an added treat to be able to remember him. Sonny, also, I wish to thank you for sharing your knowledge of bidding and record keeping. This has been a tremendous help. One more thing - your web site is grand. I left feedback, but it is such a small space to try to express appropriate appreciation. Sincerely, Helen (Nina, as my grandchildren call me) Rosenthal. >>

Time: 2000-01-29 21:03:54 << Thanks for sharing your wonderful collecting and living accomplishments with me. I am two years younger than you and about 60 years behind you in accomplishments. You acted but I was too scared to do anything but hunker down in a mindless job in a bank and shiver with fear of failure. Only since the big 50 did I start to move going to college and getting a BS (3.975 GPA) and on to NYU J-school and an MA. Now I'm 29K in the hole on tuition, trying to build a career as a freelance reporter. It's very rough but I enjoy it. Seeing death on the horizon is a powerful stimulant. I seem to be in fairly good health, but people our age are dying. Do you feel the necessity to leave a footprint that you've been on the planet along with 6 billion other souls? What has/will satisfy that need for you? Most people take solace in having a kid to carry on their dream. Me, I've no kids and no prospect of having any and I have trouble coping with the thought of not leaving that proverbial footprint. If so many of our intersts didn't coincide I probably would not have written this to you. I hope you will not be upset with me for thinking out loud with you. So many of your interests are mirrored in my own: Sculpture,African Art, ASian art, music, love of nature and plants. I can't buy much from you and certainly no intact lots. I'm looking for a ship's bell clock that keeps good time, a buddha or two(I bid on a tiny one you have on E-bay), any books on buddhist and african art and of course my passion which is stamps. Don't know if you'll make any exception to the intact lot rule but wanted to try. Best regards, Frank, Brooklyn, NY>>

In a message dated 14/1/00 23:16:00, you wrote: << Sonny Just couldn't let today get by without wishing you the best on your special day. No hokey card, just good wishes from me to you. I am a lurker on attics and beans - love that list - I get the digest though and by the time I get the digests read it is too late to respond to what has been said. My sister is also on the list (Robin) and she does post sometimes. I have also visited your site and enjoyed it. I need more time to read it all though. You have some fasinating information. This is probably the biggest email I have ever sent anyone (so consider yourself special). I have wanted to send you an e mail before but it just seemed like I never got around to it but since today is your birthday I decided it was time to send it and let you know what was on my mind. I just have to let you know that you do make a difference in someone's life. I have always wondered about this in my thinking as to (the age old) why am I here? am I serving any purpose? yadda yadda yadda. What keeps me going is thinking that maybe if I can just touch one person a day, maybe even with just a smile, if I can make that person feel better then maybe I have done what I was put here to do. Maybe it really is something that simple. And you do that for me. I come home at night after work, lots of times depressed and lonely, and then I read the digests and then it never fails, I will come across one of your posts and I burst out laughing. You have an incredible wit and you do bring something into my life, whether you realize it or not, you are making a difference in someone's life and I am very grateful to you. I hope you have a very happy birthday, keep up the good work. I know you are going to think this is very sappy and you are entitled to your opinion but I mean everything sincerely and perhaps if everyone felt this way and took these small steps to let other people know we care we could somehow make a difference. Thank you again Sonny. Pam>>

In a message dated 14/1/00 02:01:09, you wrote: << Dear Sonny, I discovered your website last December, and as I wrote earlier, I was impressed with your attention to detail and professional management of the transaction. Most sellers are not as thoughtful as you. A few days ago I discovered something very special: I happened upon your site again, and was overwhelmed by its content. I have literally spent hours reading your life story, so I feel that I actually know you. I was particularly impressed with the cancer journal--in fact, I was so mesmerized by the frankness of it all that I stayed with it until I finished--around 3 a.m. Since you left the hospital, you obviously have recovered to a more normal existence. Since the end of the journal in 1997, you appear to have become a master of the web, as well as having become a beanie baby expert.

I see that you are celebrating your birthday today, so I am taking this opportunity to wish you the very best on this special day and the coming year.

I will carefully place it with my other Blake items. I know that it must be difficult to spin off things that you have enjoyed collecting over the years, but you have made me very happy. At some point I will have to start weeding out my collections, but I will always be on the lookout for quality items. Your library stamp and date Apr. 4, 1994 appear inside front cover. Do you have any recollection of where you acquired this book?

I have placed a feedback in your eBay file. You must be proud of all the nice things people have said about you. Thanks.
