About My Limited Edition U.S.P.S. Sports Mats

I have been stashing away full sheets of commemorative stamps and other philatelic items for over 45 years -- Evelio did too -- for no other reason except that we liked the designs -- they depict subjects that we were interested in -- sports, fossils, animals, plants, history, famous people, science, technology and art -- stamp collecting is an easy and fun way for kids from 8 to 68 to learn about geography, as well as the subjects depicted on the postage stamps. The United States Postal Service started selling Limited Edition photographs accompanied by an associated special one-day-only hand stamped cover [a postal term for envelope] dedicated to special events, stamp issues, and what they call Sports Mats in about 2002. These Sports Mats highlight a player [and in some cases the team or several players], apparently on some significant date relative to the team and player/s depicted. They are all professionally DOUBLE matted using acid free board -- Not all post offices carry Sports Mats, the ones that do usually seem to have only a couple models available, and they cannot get more of the same presentation -- I checked the USPS web site and these postal sports memorabilia are NOT listed anywhere. All are in proverbial MINT condition, and stashed as safely as I do with absolutely everything. These Sports Mats were only issued on a single day, some have a special Cachet -- ALL are very collectible and extremely difficult to find! The original issue price was -- $ 19.99. |

Scores of shelves chock full of books
Thousands of references, many sets, acquired over a period of over 50 years. Some signed by the artist, with a drawing. I started a database inventory many years ago, got up to 991, but never finished it -- do NOT ask for a list as it is VERY incomplete!!
Checking "keywords" in what I did catalog (some appear in several keywords) : Modern 439, Dutch 25, Spanish 158, German 35, French 42, Sculpture 207, Tiffany 13, deKooning 21, Picasso 97, Miro 19, Dali 44 -- since the inventory, MANY tomes have been added to it about these topics.
Many shelves of erotic art, antiques, ceramics and porcelains, clocks, furniture, art glass, Oriental, African, Crafts, American Indian, Archaeology, ad infinitum -- included are several filing cabinet drawers full of reprints mostlly on scientific subjects, many signed by the author, which were not included in the mentioned very partial inventory!
Also included are scores of boxes of hardback books on innumerable subjects, many first editions, as well as well illustrated paperbound and hard back auction catalogues (many duplicates) -- there have to be several thousand books, total.
My COST in the 6 figures -- asking in the mid-upper 5 figures!!

Antique Wrought Iron Fencing
November, 2005 -- One hundred feet of solid heavy wrought iron fencing, comprising 12 fence sections and 14 vertical mounting poles. It dates from about 1890, and came from a period mansion in Bayonne, New Jersey which no longer exists do to modern development. Large Ceramic Sculptures
December, 2005 -- I have three massive sculptures by Jaroslav Rona, a Czech artist from Prague, signed and dated 1985 and obtained from his own personal collection in the then Czechoslovakia.
Rona has a web site dedicated to his life and works -- Jaroslav Róna -- he "is an artist. He is a sculptor as well as actor and author. He was born on 27th April 1957 in Prague in a Czech - Jewish family."
