Very FEW events occured, during the years that I have been active on the Internet, which have so affected me as a person and former Science teacher, as have those which occured on 20 April 1999. This is my personal attempt to understand them and to make this information available to all those who also seek to find some measure of causal meaning in this tragedy.
I was lucky enough to have found some material BEFORE it was deleted from the Internet-- was up all night (in cyber contact with a friend in Minnesota, who helped me find material) on the 20th, until daybreak of the 21st doing searches. The following are my results and personal commentaries. I have attempted to be OBJECTIVE.
OK, some news via 2 emails that I sent out the early morning of 21 April :

Did anyone notice that the REICHSTAG building in Berlin was officially REinaugurated yesterday, on the 19th?? So now the German Parliament can sit in all its glory in a Bismarkian symbol of "empire", instead of those ratty buildings in the Bonn vicinity. I guess it would have been a tad GROSS to save it another day for Hitler's birthday (the 110th anniversary of his birth is today, 20 April)??
Hitler seems to have had a "modern"-style family background (gotten in a web search) :
Adolf's mother was Klara Polzl. There were six children, but only Adolf and his sister Paula survived beyond early childhood. Klara was Alois's third wife and Adolf had half-brothers and sisters from earlier marriages or liasons.
[I don't rally understand the following too well] :
Adolf's father was conceived whilst his mother worked for the Frankenberger family in Graz, Syria and she continued to receive payments from them for many years after leaving their employ - perhaps suggesting that Adolf's grandfather was ironically an Austrian Jew.
Incidently, I grieve for ALL those fallen in Colorado-- AND I also feel a GREAT sense of loss for the alleged two 18-year-old males who they say are responsible for the horrible tragedy. THEY WERE ALSO VICTIMS of a valueless society having grossly misplaced priorities. I'd trade all my Peaces and Garcias and Reggies and other "valuables" just to have them ALL back, and to be able start over with the pair as human beings. Too many soundbites : "outcasts", "loners", "trench coats"-- a public relations way of steering culpability away from where it really belongs!! (and DO remember that before any "official" statements are ever made to the press, the text IS gone over by an "expert" for "suitable", sometimes self-serving content!!).
The two kids made their point, as they knew they would-- it probably seemed the only way, at that point in their troubled lives, to make any kind of statement and be heard! YES, THE ENTIRE WORLD HEARD!! We unfortunately may never know what they were trying to tell us though!
Is the media to blame-- of course! Someone noted that a body was lying on a step for a long time while other kids ran by escaping from the school. THAT IS DISGUSTING!! Do you think there will be copy-cat events-- NO DOUBT!! Can they be avoided-- VERY DOUBTFUL!! So what can be done to prevent this sort of thing from happening again-- LOVE!!
It's NOT in the National Budget, traded on the Stock Exchanges, found on those charity auctions, on sale today in aisle 16 at Wall-Mart, palpible in self-help tomes, NOR seen in its TRUE form in ANY of the mass media.
We all have it deep in the recesses of our hearts, though, in spite of all kinds of negativeness which may creep into our everyday lives. We can't really describe it-- it's NOT those eye contacts nor straws-- its as simple as a warm hug and some words of encouragement for even jobs not done all that well, or even forgotten to get done today.

SOCIETY : the Balkin war-- a powder keg like forever-- you may remember that World War I started there! Daily propaganda photos, stories of bombing, killing innocent and NOT so innocent people. People driven out of their homes.

Confrontations on those "talk shows", some having led to murder.
FAMILIES : way too loose in the last 20 years or so. Mom's work, as others noted, for whatever reason. In some minority communities, no DAD at home as a positive force (MANY more minority murders are committed each year than in these "unusual" spree killings.
Parents do NOT have time to spend with their kids (these lists excepted, hopefully). Parents "harpy", always scolding, way too free in their own lives, dad abusive, mom dying to get out of relationship but can't make ends meet as it is, drinking, ad infinitum. Afraid to hug their kids for fear it will be thought of as "child abuse"-- OR they really have no idea what it means to show affection.
From the pics I saw on the TV while at the post office, their communities do NOT seem like the typical food-stamp variety. Parents go on vacations, possibly without the kids. Have more than one auto-- and probably "gave" one to them-- instead of having them "work" for it. Gun collector/member or the NRA. Hung-up with prejudice or one kind or another.
SCHOOLS : too preoccupied with fears of law suits, head counts for those allmighty federal $$, too poorly staffed to have any idea about really how to counsel the kids-- or their parents. Teachers who make waves to better things get canned. In some communities, little or NO parent participation. School boards whose members have NO idea what they are doing-- a stepping stone to what? Principals who are hanging in there until retirement-- more interested in stock quotes than in what goes on in his/her school.
KIDS : see ALL kinds of crossed signals (and are highly influenced by) at school, in the home, with their friends, on TV and in the mass media. They want to be themselves and be able to "feel" good about themselves. Join "gangs" to feel "in"-- nowhere else to go!
THESE KILLER KIDS : they felt "in" within their trench-coated group. Secure against outside negative forces. Their parents were "tollerant" or simply didn't give a shit-- BUT they never took the time to really get to know the kids either.
IF and WHEN the psychological analyses ever are made public, we may see that the kids had hidden or not so hidden homophile leanings-- whether they be "gay" OR NOMINALLY "homophobic". They had little or no parental constraints, hugs, "closeness". What the parents may have done is sent them to the "standard" shrink-- which is VERY akin to buying them a self-help book and telling them to go to their room to read it-- without doing a book report-- and, needless to say, a tad more expensive.
SUMMING IT UP : yuppers, all kinds of things enter into play in this, and other similar situations.
How can tragedies such as these be avoided in the future? THEY CAN NOT!! At least NOT in THIS society which is so screwed up it doesn't know which way is up!! Do you read of these things happening in other "civilized" / "model" societies?? I do not!
It may be just a VERY SAD reflection or just how unable to lead the entire "free" world that the U.S. really is. How many zillions will be necessary to rebuild all they bombed the shit out of?? GUESS WHO WILL BE PAYING FOR IT!!
Just some abbreviated ramblings from someone who has gotten around and has seen VERY different societies over a LONGISH period of time.

A friend in Minnesota and I were up until daybreak checking to see whether the 2 kids, Eric Harris nd Dylan Klebold, had an online presence, hoping perhaps to get some clues as to why this tragedy occured. AOL has a "member search" feature which allows you to get info based on a user's name, where they live and keywords found in their member profile.
We found a couple that seemed right:
Surprisingly, as we searched and returned to the SAME search results, MORE entries appeared!! This suggests that weirdos were starting NEW screen names and entering news related tidbits to their new misleading profiles-- just for kicks?? THAT IS SICK!! A couple examples follow, one of which seems to be an ad for a website (that curiously deleted all its guest book entries just before I got there!!)
From what I hear, Colorado is a State with a high interest in Goth and weird stuff. I wonder what he average family income is in that area, and how many "families" include the "original" parents?? Guess we shall have to wait to see what we are "officially" fed through the slutty "media", all out to make a "killing" with sales and ratings!!
The TIMES OF LONDON had a comment by a female student at that school who said she thought the Columbine Trenchcoat gang was gay! Coincidence? I think the Colorado Gay Rights Bill was overturned not too long ago, and they are NOW (and have been) debating a CONCEALED GUN law!! WEIRD!! I have yet to see an interview with any of the chicks they "suggest/feed us" they hung out with in their profiles-- yet one of them suggested to a male friend that he leave the school prior to the tragic events!!--hmmmmm. And it is reported that both went to their prom-- together?? (it does happen, you know-- and until that and other data is released, Inquiring Minds Want To Know!!
QUESTION : why did the parents NOT find all those bombs and weapons the kids had? My mon found my "rubbers", which I carefully hid, at about the age of 14, taped underneith a low bureau in my bedroom (and they were those old fashioned single packs about 2 x 2"-- sawed-off shotguns and pipe bombs are somewhat harder to conceal!!). Of course I told her I found them at work on the boardwalk and had NO idea what they were!!
GAWD!! By 15h on 21 April ALL the above PROFILES had disappeared!! Well, you all got the info while it was still fresh!! ALL profiles containing the words "trenchcoat" and "mafia" within the LITTLETON/CO set have mysteriously disappeared!! I guess all the originators will get visits from the FBI in the very near future??

OK, that "420" bugged me a lot because it seems to be included in numerous aol profiles.
Using AOL NetFind I was presented with a list of 129,569 links for 420 , many in the Czech Republic, for some strange reason-- maybe it is their Zip code or something. There had to be a better way?
Good, checking for 420 in aol profiles, I found a couple of profilers online, so I IMed (that handy INSTANT MESSENGER feature) them and chatted with some dudes (the code is NOT their screen name!) and they provided me with the following info :

I have a suspician that Eric and Dylan were playing "mind games" when Eric used "420" in his profile. It had several meanings, among them : Hitler's birthday, the date of the massacre, weed, and possibly yet others. As suggested above, the allmighty MEDIA picked on the first and second options as BUZZ WORDS for some reason.

The Floating Pancreas and pancreas.com stands for non-conformity! Not killing, not hating, not anything. Just the ultimate statement for freedom of expression. If you hate, have at it.. If you kill, don't kill me. But who am I to judge? That's for the parents, teachers, counselors, cops, and prison psychologists to worry about. We started by poking fun at a warez group about 15 years ago, and it ballooned into one of the biggest underground huts on the net. We're here to have fun with it, not go on spree-kills at school.
As far as where we go from here, looks like this one might be the one. Between this and the Secret Service visit, I'm getting bored with it. There's nothing going on anymore, even the IRC leeches are gone. The website's been dormant for over a year now... It may be time to say goodbye!

Okay, some kid uses my website over a year ago, puts a link or reference to my site on his webpage, and according to the Associated Press, The Floating Pancreas is linked to the Colorado shootings! HOGWASH!
If Ted Bundy used Southern Bell, are they liable for his murders? If Cristopher Wilder drank a Pepsi, is Pepsi filled with murderous, anti-social robots?
The Associated Press went on to babble that our site was "...filled with imagery of death...", which is a complete lie. Whoever wrote this report was deep into a 30-hard or sniffing glue. To this I say, "Check your facts!" It sucks what happened, but sites like this aren't the damn problem. Yes, we're full of hate and rage, but we're not dumb enough to kill people.
If you're looking to pass blame, point it at the parents! My parents didn't raise me to be a murderous idiot, and hey, it worked. Those of you looking for the "Death Imagery" that AP was barking about, try DefVac, loads of free gore there! Or go to any tasteless USENET newsgroup or medical site, same shit. It's everywhere!
And no, we don't have a copy of the TCM webpage, and we don't know or care who they are. Go to MSNBC or the Associated Press, they seem to know it all...

I NOW find it EXTREMELY difficult to believe that ONLY Eric and Dylan were ultimately responsible for the events at Columbine High. There were way too many bombs found for ONLY two individuals to have brought them into the school. It will NOT be too difficult to figure out who the accomplices may have been because, IF they were stupid enough NOT to have worn gloves, there will be fingerprints all over the bombs, the tape they may have been wrapped in, and other perhaps less obvious places. Even a misplaced hair can be traced by DNA analysis!! I bet they find some interesting stuff in their ongoing investigations.
CANCELLATIONS :
The NRA meeting in Denver was shortened (When will Charlton finally figure out they are only USING HIS POPULARITY to make all those right-to-bear-arms lobbies sound a tad more "popular" and innocuous?? I sometimes wonder whether he will be the "spokesperson" for some financially well-endowed bow-and-arrow/spear producing consortium, chariot maker and/or hot tub manufacturer lobbies, after all, they were amply represented in his film, Ben Hur!!).
The Manson concert at Red Rock (Colorado) was cancelled. GREAT!!
Eric was an aficionado of the video game DOOM for many years. He even created some "levels" of play-- termed a WAD. I have busted my chops trying to find out what WAD stands for, naturally thinking that it was an acronym for some descriptive terms, much like URL = Universal Resource Locator.

No firm evidence points to new suspects, but detectives who removed carloads of computer equipment from Harris's home planned to track down his e-mail contacts.
Gun dealers in the area were being questioned about recent sales, especially of gunpowder, and the Kennedy High School, which borders the Columbine High School grounds, was shut down on Wednesday because of what sources called a "possible link" to the massacre.
All Littleton's high schools have branches of the Trenchcoat Mafia, students said. Whether they also have their versions of Eric Harris remains to be seen. Anger mounted yesterday over reports that a member of Columbine's wrestling team had reported death and bomb threats to police last week, and been ignored.
Harris also left this message on the Internet: "I live in Denver, and I would love to kill almost all of its residents. You all better hide in your houses, because I'm coming for everyone and I will shoot to kill."
Most chillingly of all, he and Klebold had made a video as a school project in which two teenagers walked down school corridors firing at friends whom they persuaded to play the role of "jocks" - the athletes whom Harris professed to loathe. They were not allowed to show the film at the school, but a friend who saw it said that "it represented what happened".
Few seem blameless as charges of missed warnings begin to fly in Littleton. Yesterday it emerged that police warned county school officials six months ago of rising tension and violence at Columbine, to no avail.
Likewise a teacher, Cheryl Lucas, said she warned administrators there that the long-running feud between "jocks" and "goths" could intensify. No action was taken.
The Harris and Klebold families issued statements of apology, but were not spared reproach for ignoring signs of depression and violence, including their sons' neo-Nazi salutes and passion for the morbid video game, Doom.
Americans "looking at this carnage have every right to be very angry at the parents of these children. This was allowed," said Michael Rustigan, a criminologist and author of Kids Who Kill.
Brooks Brown, a friend to both gunmen, insisted their families had done nothing wrong. But G. Gordon Liddy, the former Nixon aide and avowed right-wing Republican, said calls to his radio talk show were nine to one against the parents.
Calls for forgiveness and healing have not silenced complaints about emergency response efforts on Tuesday. Even as details of the killers' private arsenal emerged, pupils who tried in vain to save their teacher, David Sanders, who was shot in the chest, lamented that paramedics had not reached them for three hours.
Response teams had reason to fear for their lives, however. Besides their bombs - which experts said can be made for $2 (£1.20) but have a blast radius of 50ft - Harris and Klebold had two sawn-off pump action shotguns, a semi-automatic pistol, a semi-automatic assault rifle and more ammunition than they could use.
Bringing any of them to school is illegal, but there is no minimum age for buying shotguns in Colorado, and no bar on "private sales" of guns to anyone over 18. Harris's eighteenth birthday was on April 9.

Incidently, what the PRESS-MEDIA keeps harping over with totally negative imagery in order to blame some group, any group, and to have a nice tidy story-line, MAY NOT BE VERY ACCURATE!! A member of the "The Trenchcoat Mafia" was interviewed and gives an entirely different outlook on their group and its meaning. I found it VERY revealing in its apparent sincerity and anguish.

When she visited him, she found Harris sprawled on the ground by a large rock with blood spattered everywhere - as if he had hit his head in an attempted suicide. She did not take it seriously.
"I knew it wasn't real," she said. "I could tell it was fake blood."
A former member of the Cub Scouts, Klebold drove a black BMW, one of his parents' seven cars, and was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. Already well over 6ft tall, he was a sportsman of sorts, too, and pitched a baseball as hard as any.
Harris had an aptitude for computers, soon setting up his own web site, and developed an obsession for games called Duke Nuke 'Em and Doom. They were violent, but not exceptionally so. In Doom, players blast away at numerous aliens and humans taken over by aliens.
It is the "shoot 'em up" stuff of a thousand movies. They liked, too, The Basketball Diaries, a film in which Leonardo DiCaprio, during a drug-induced dream, enters a school wearing a long black trenchcoat and kills his fellow students in a hail of bullets.
"When Eric and Dylan got together, Eric changed Dylan's demeanour," said Nick Baumgart, 17. "Dylan was a follower who was constantly looking for someone to lead. Eric provided that."
The more ostracised they became from the mainstream, the more inseparable Harris and Vodka - as he nicknamed Klebold - became. They started visiting neo-Nazi sites on the Internet, used the Hitler salute, and were devotees of German underground bands such KMFDM, whose full name roughly translates as No Pity for the Majority.
But to many it was still little more than a facade. Patrick McDuffee, a former member of the gang, claimed it had no real interest in fascism or satanism. They were as likely to have watched a Monty Python film as play a violent game, he said. "They just put on that image to make the people who didn't like them leave them alone."
Last July Harris took a job on a firework stand so that he could be paid in kind. He fashioned miniature devices which he exploded at the pizza parlour where he later worked with Klebold. Colleagues there said Harris liked making "dry ice bombs," and "potato launcher" explosives, using the vegetable and an aerosol product.
LAST weekend, as the school prepared for a prom and party, Harris, 18, and Klebold, 17, retreated into the garage at Harris's house. "He [Klebold] was over all weekend," said a neighbour, "and every once in a while you'd hear noises, just like saws being run or glass breaking."
Police believe the pair were preparing an array of home-made pipe bombs, grenades and booby traps strapped with broken glass and metal.
On the Saturday evening, both youths were seen at the post-prom party dressed in black tie; fellow students thought it strange that the normally antisocial duo should put in an appearance.
Harris, according to McDuffee, did not have a girlfriend and had failed to find a college place despite getting reasonable exam grades. "His life was pretty much a shambles," said McDuffee. But at the party the youngster betrayed no sign of his plans.
The following Monday was the anniversary of the siege at Waco and the Oklahoma City bombing. Tuesday was the anniversary of Hitler's birth, and that morning KMFDM released their latest album, Adios. Harris logged on to his computer at 8.41am and posted a message on the Internet: "Today is my last day on earth. Be prepared."
Brooks Brown, 18, was outside having a cigarette at 11.15am when he bumped into Harris pulling duffel bags out of his car. "Brooks, I like you," he said. "Now get out of here. Go home."//
A friend emailed me the following message, sort of an essay, I guess-- in short free-style, with kewl juxtapositions of concepts/connotations. It conveys many of my own "philosophical" thoughts about "our" society at the present time. It is succinct, yet eloquent and all-inclusive. Although I sometimes really feel many of the same things, I honestly hope that the "evaluation" is not as omnious as it may appear-- and that some REAL solution may be found before it is TOO LATE.
I have no idea exactly where or when it originated nor how old the "student" is.

OK, so I bid on that domain name while it only had 3 bids-- mine was for $5.43. My ONLY reason for doing this was to keep track of the bids and to be able to find it easily in my Bidder List (I do this for many items which interest me, just to see if they may end up cheap or to check on final bids once he auction is over). Today, I received an email from eBay stating (Dated 24 April 1999):

1. MORE MISINFORMATION by eBay, whose stock price jumped quite a bit today after news of their takeover of Butterfield & Butterfield, the Art Auctionhouse located in California.
A. At the present time (26 April, 19:55h), there are 213 Domain Names up for grabs on eBay, so the act of selling a domain name IS NOT UNLAWFUL. Was it the site content? Well, "caring" eBay now has a couple "adult content domains" offered at their prestigeous and well-promoted site-- does this mean they are fostering potentially illicit activities which are NOT filled with the proverbial "family values"?? ITEMS MATCHING DOMAIN NAME
B. The seller who offered the domain name was the OWNER, and as such, has the LEGAL RIGHT to offer his domain for sale. Domain names are registered to an individual or other entity, who may even will them to someone after they die-- they are PROPERTY!
C. I can find NOTHING in eBay's "listing violations" data which in any way applies to this particular item. eBay is NOTED for its single-handed in-house MIShandling of MANY aspects of its money making enterprise-- and its earnings for this quarter greatly exceeded analyist's expectations-- so I guess, being such an industry giant, they are above rational reason?? I found their email VERY self-serving.

Today the dorky media have been harping about some notes in a diary suggesting that the killers were "planning" to somehow get a plane and crash it into New York City!! YEAH, to me it seems obvious that those particular notes were more in line with a WAD for some new level of DOOM, rather than a REAL desire or actual plan to accomplish same [whatever is found MUST be taken in its psychological "context", in the mindset of the 2 boys, NOT at face value!!]. It was their fantasy world, an escape from the obvious harassment they seemingly received on a constant basis from other kids AND adults, all of whom really should have known better-- AND WERE, at a minimum, PARTIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EVENTS!!
And the principal of that school said he had NEVER heard of the trenchcoat group!! As I stated above, it really DOES NOT surprise me in the least. What I fear is that there will be a typical AMERICAN STYLE rash of compensatory law suits against loads of local authorities and individuals-- many of which, I am sure, would have real legal merit, BUT will the $$$$$$$$ that WILL BE SOUGHT & FORTHCOMING be worth reopening the whole tragedy all over again, bringing into the open MANY VERY graphic details we may never have gotten to know or see-- or even want to?? (and you would never guess who will receive a BIG cut of the $$$$$?? The freekin lawyers!! And they will have their 5 minutes in the limelight, see their pseudo-"compassionate" faces in all the media, always expounding on their "compassion" and other cute buzz-words, and be able to buy loads more shit that they will not ever really need-- BUT want, to feel superior or more "successful"!! GET A LIFE!!) I really hope that the circus-style sideshows do NOT begin!
Has it occured to anyone that Eric (at least) left several OBVIOUS things in OPEN VIEW in his room, knowing the police would find them and potentially blame his parents (he most likely hated his parents, among MANY other people!) for "overlooking the obvious"?? Much of what I have read -- I do NOT have a TV-- leads me to believe that his "mind games" even exceed the capacity of the "investigators". They are groping for straws, "conveniently" left behind for quickie analysis-- and every "new lead" promotes all kinds of PURE SPECULATIVE interpretation!! The boys were NOT ingenious enough to "believe" they would survive their attack, and suggesting that keeping them "contained" in the school saved NEW YORK is pure bullshit-- the authorities seem to have to cover their asses somehow! They all have jobs, social/political standing, possible neat little/large houses, a family, etc., ad infinitum-- as well as loads of $$$$$$$$$ involved!! Think about it! Pass the buck as far away as you can to feel safe. Even the X-Files palls in comparison!

I had more than my share of that sort of thing when I was going to school- (VERY NERDY-- and that was even before the term was even invented, probably!!)- and it all went in one ear and out the other! Inner strength comes from the family environment and from within one's-self-- not from shrinks!
OK, so Eric was on LUVOX, an anti-depressant (he apparently had OCD = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, semingly the reason he was NOT accepted into the Marines.

NOTED : according to the latest reports Eric and Dylan killed themselves about 20 minutes after they started the massacre. Why did it take so long to rescue that teacher (and the kids)-- who died because he was attended to some 3-4 hours after he was shot?
There is a lot of fodder for potential law suits in this whole thing!
NOTED : so they finally say they have a report of some clerk who made school keys for the kids?? I worked at a school, and the key place I always go with my keys would NOT duplicate a couple school keys the principal asked me to copy!! If you remember, there was a report some days ago that some school keys were "missing" last week.
